I booked a trip for my mom, who uses a wheelchair, and it was way easier than I expected. The website had clear info, the staff helped us with seating, and they never made us feel like we were being a hassle. They really handled it well, and the train ride itself was smooth too. We appreciated it a lot.

I booked my tickets on Alaska Railroad and the process itself was simple. The dates, times, and seat options were easy to find, and checkout went through without any issues. I also appreciated that the confirmation came quickly, so I wasn’t left wondering if the booking worked. That said, there was a small hiccup afterward that I felt could’ve been handled better, and I’m still kind of expecting an apology or at least some acknowledgment. Overall, the booking only took a few minutes and was easy enough, but the follow-up could’ve been better.

The train ride was actually fine, which made the baggage situation even more annoying. We put our bags exactly where we were told, but then once we arrived it felt like the goalposts kept moving — wait here, check over there, give it a few more minutes, ask someone else. Nobody really gave us a clear answer, so we just stood around waiting way longer than expected.
When one of our bags finally came out, it was wet and dirty, and the staff acted like it was just one of those things. For what we paid, I really expected the whole process to be more organized. The ride itself was nice, but the baggage hassle would definitely make me think twice before booking again.

I couldn’t believe how much wildlife we saw from the train, moose and even bears. It was such a cool experience, and my only regret is that I didn’t book a longer ride so I could enjoy it more.

I usually stick with another train service out of habit, so I wasn’t sure how this would go, but I had to change our travel date at the last minute and it was way smoother than expected. The steps to update the reservation were clear, and I didn’t have to jump through a bunch of hoops. I’m still a little loyal to my usual brand, but this experience definitely made me consider booking here again.

Booking was straightforward, so I was happy with that part. But when I needed to cancel, it got annoying fast. I get that every company has policies, and maybe it’s fine if your plans are 100% set, but if there’s any chance you might need to change things, the rules and fees feel a bit much. The refund details also weren’t very clear, which made the whole thing more stressful than it needed to be

The views were nice here and there, but i expected SO much more. A lot of the ride was just trees, gray sky, and quick little glimpses that were gone before I could really take them in. It wasn’t terrible or anything, but it definitely didn’t feel worth all the hype to me.

I took the Alaska Railroad mainly for the scenery, the views were amazing. No complaints there at all, Alaska really does show off without even trying.

The onboard narration, though, got old fast. It felt like it was going almost nonstop and a little too scripted, so instead of just relaxing and staring out the window, we were constantly being talked at. Some of the facts were interesting, sure, but after a while it turned into noise in the background.
I really wish there had been more quiet time or some easier way to tune it out. For what the trip costs, I was hoping for a peaceful scenic ride, not what felt like one long guided tour with hardly any breaks.

We had a great experience with Alaska Railroad, mostly because of the people working there. Everyone we asked for help was friendly and patient, even with our probably obvious questions about seats and luggage. The attendants came by enough to make sure we were good, but not so much that it felt like too much. One of them helped my mom get settled and was really kind about it. I don’t know, it just felt like they actually cared, and that made the whole ride a lot better.

Boarding was a lot easier than I had built it up in my head. We showed up a little early, and the staff just pointed us to the right line without any confusion or that rushed feeling you sometimes get with travel.
They scanned tickets quickly, helped a few people with bags, and didn’t make it feel like a big production. The train even left on time, which made the whole start of the trip feel smoother than other times when...

I took the train last week and went in assuming the food would be basic, like most travel food. But it was way better than I expected. I had a warm sandwich and a coffee, and both actually tasted fresh. The staff was good about keeping drinks coming too. The prices were still very Alaska, lol, but based on what I was expecting, I was happy with it.

The only reason I’m giving it 4 stars is because the trash bins started getting a bit full toward the end, which was a little disappointing. Overall though, I was pleasantly surprised.

The staff were totally fine, but the station itself felt a bit run down haha. The bathrooms weren’t very clean, and there wasn’t much seating available. Overall, it got the job done, but the facilities could definitely use some work.

Hardly any clear info about buses or shuttles, and figuring out the taxis was confusing. We ended up standing around with our bags way longer than we should have. Frustrating. For what we paid, I expected the whole thing to be smoother.

The seats were comfy and there was actually decent leg room, which I didn’t really expect from a train. I liked that I could get up and walk around a bit too. The whole ride felt relaxed and easy, way better than I thought it would be, which isn’t exactly a high bar, but still, I was pleasantly surprised

The views were amazing, so I’ll give it that. But the ticket prices are ridiculous for what you actually get. It felt less like a worthwhile experience and more like a fancy tourist trap trying to drain your wallet. Cool once, but I wouldn’t rush back
